Melanie's artistic journey began in childhood, where she found joy in coloring, drawing,
and painting. Her mother played a pivotal role as her biggest supporter, often taking her to oil painting classes. Surrounded by McCall's needlework magazines, Melanie was inspired to create doll clothes, stuffed animals, and handmade gifts like Christmas cards for her family. Throughout the years, Melanie explored a wide array of arts and crafts, including calligraphy, book-making, stained glass, hand-thrown pottery, mixed media, zentangle, tole painting, and one-stroke painting. Her passion for teaching emerged during her college years when she shared her skills with local parks and recreation programs. Focusing on a degree in K-12 art education, Melanie dedicated over 25 years to teaching elementary school. For seven of those years, she taught elementary art, where she delighted in witnessing her students’ creativity and growth. In recent years, Melanie has honed her skills in watercolor painting, participating in both online and in-person classes with renowned artist Shari Blaukopf. She maintains a collection of sketchbooks, capturing her surroundings during her golf travels with her husband. Since 2016, Melanie has been in charge of the Creative Arts Guild’s annual art show. She enjoys urban sketching and plein air painting, often taking commissions for house paintings in watercolor and acrylic. Melanie also loves creating handmade items for friends and family, further sharing her artistic spirit with those around her. Contact at: [email protected] |
