We Celebrate Art once again with a wonderful Spring Show. Come join us and see the Beauty that we have created for your eyes to enjoy. Share this with others you know or take them with you. We have a large Mentor group of Art work to be seen. Many of our members are sharing their love with others and encouraging creativity. Our "off the wall" section this year is called Double Take. Taking a one picture and painting it twice in two different mediums. Some members are pairing up and have done the same picture at the same time but with different mediums and different technique spine to it. We will have our Annual Raffle of a Painting for $1. Love for you to win a painting for under $5 maybe. Thanks to Lois Prestage for the donation of the Painting this year. There will be Cards for sale as well as paintings from the guild members. I had the honor of being one of his many students. It was a surprise to come upon his work within the gallery and even more so that he remembered me . The Colors is all his painting are breath taking and beautiful.

For more than 55 years the Guild has been participating in community art education and mentoring programs for adults and children with local schools, libraries, and community art centers to fulfill it's mission "to bring out the inner creativeness and individualism within each student…" Currently there are 26 guild members representing art forms in pottery, woodwork, jewelry, sculpture, photography, watercolor, oils, pastel, acrylics, and drawing. The Creative Arts Guild of Mid-Michigan
Spring 2014, the Creative Arts Guild of Mid-Michigan will celebrate their 56th Annual Spring Show. This art guild was formed 59 years ago by current member, Dottie Wassenaar, and persons in and around Alma and St. Louis who shared an interest in the visual arts. They banded together primarily to promote their own interest in the visual arts. It is a working group designed to stimulate productivity and to improve the quality of their work. Though the members and membership numbers have greatly changed through the years, the purpose and goals of the guild have remained the same. The Creative Arts Guild of Mid-Michigan is believed to be the oldest art guild in Michigan. Currently there are 26 guild members representing many different mediums and art forms: pottery, woodwork, jewelry, sculpture, photography, watercolor, oils, pastel, acrylics and sketches. The guild includes members from Gratiot, Isabella and Montcalm counties. For over 55 years the Creative Arts Guild has benefited the community by offering works of art for investment and viewing pleasure. The Guild is active in Art Reach of Mid-Michigan, Pine River Arts Council, Gratiot County Fair for Youth, participates in the Day With the Artist program in local schools, donates art-related books to local libraries, and has community displays and exhibits at Alma College, Clare County Welcome Center, and the Sumner Community Center. The Guild works in conjunction with the Alma Community Art Center and continues an old tradition of teaching Community Education art classes to both adults and school children. In 2000, the Creative Arts Guild created a mentoring program, for both adults and school children, that continues to be successful and productive. It’s Mission Statement is: To bring out the inner creativeness and individualism within each student and thus assure the future of the Creative Arts Guild. In 1970, former Governor Milliken, who strongly supported the arts, stated “…that art enriches the soul.” Creative Arts Guild members believe this is true, not only for the artists themselves, but also for those who view works of art.

 How to create dimension by using color temperature or a value scale in a painting or drawing.
It is vital to create an illusion with a 2D painting and create a 3D image by simply casting lights and shadow to form the picture. The simple use of changing tones can cause a picture to Pop Out and become eye catching. Many artist will squint to to the values transition form . While squinting you want ask yourself does the value of color creating a form. It is a must to keep the shadows and lights separated to make a strong form. Color temperature does well to see value in paintings Value is the lightness or darkness a color or hue.

AuthorI am an Artist wantabee. I love art for Art sake. With 5 kids, foster children, dogs, chickens and bees. I need something to fill up my time. I hate cooking, baking, canning, doing laundry, cleaning house and even taking baths (I shower) My love is for art and it all began when Icould not communicate properly, I needed to use a picture to show it my thoughts.
